We’re working in partnership with a long-standing client we’ve supported for over 5 years in building out a specialist design function to support their growing data centre portfolio across Europe. This organisation sits in a strong position within the market established and credible, yet still agile and not one of the largest global players. That balance means you’ll have visibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a real impact, rather than feeling like just another number in a large corporate structure.
They are now looking to appoint a Design Engineer (Electrical) to take ownership of electrical design across complex, large-scale data centre projects, working from early development stages through to operational handover. You’ll act as a key technical authority, ensuring designs are robust, compliant, and aligned with both project requirements and customer expectations. This is a highly customer-facing role where your ability to communicate, influence, and translate complex technical concepts will be critical.
Key Responsibilities- Lead electrical design coordination across data centre projects from concept through to completion
- Provide technical direction, ensuring alignment with project briefs and Basis of Design
- Act as the primary technical contact for customer RFP responses
- Produce and present technical solutions to customers and stakeholders
- Deliver weekly progress reports to senior leadership, highlighting key updates, risks, and achievements
- Support the integration of multi-disciplinary design elements to ensure seamless project delivery
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (Chartered or working towards)
- 6–8 years’ experience in data centre design, engineering, or mission-critical infrastructure
- Strong technical understanding of MEP systems, MV/LV distribution, and relevant regulations
- Proven experience delivering feasibility studies, technical reports, and design reviews
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong customer focus with the ability to manage complex technical queries
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with international travel (approx. once per month across Europe)
- Work with an established data centre operator with a strong and growing European footprint
- Join a team we’ve helped build over the past 5+ years, with a clear focus on design excellence and customer collaboration
- Play a visible, influential role where your work directly impacts project outcomes and client relationships
- Be part of a business that values expertise, ownership, and long-term development rather than hierarchy
