We are recruiting for this role on both a junior and senior level, looking for individuals confident using Python and who have either worked in technical pricing before or are looking to become more experienced in this field. This role focuses specifically on discount modelling, using the best-in-class discounting models and expert analysis, market insight and innovation.
Working with stakeholders and pricing specialists, your work will directly shape and impact how the business prices and discounts compete in a highly regulated and competitive market. Duties:
- Use statistical modelling techniques with Python to predict customer behaviour such as propensity to purchase, cancel or claim.
- Investigate new modelling approaches, data enrichment and techniques to improve model predictiveness.
- Analyse price trials and competitor pricing data to support price and discount optimisation.
- Lead the development and enhancement of discount and pricing models that drive acquisition, retention and profitability.
- Support delivery of Consumer pricing strategy and initiatives across the Division.
- Lead the development of forecasting models and clearly explain weekly and annual variance versus forecast.
- Own data production for modelling activity, reconciling and validating datasets to ensure high-quality inputs.
- Build trusted, credible relationships with senior stakeholders, compliance and leadership teams.
- Explore new tools, software and techniques to improve data processing efficiency and modelling capability.
- Validate pricing model performance over time, ensuring models are deployed correctly and remain effective.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions where model performance deviates from expectations.
- Ensure pricing and discounting activity aligns with FCA regulatory guidance.
- Partner closely with other squads in the business and work with the Pricing, Finance, Marketing and Insights teams.
Skills required:
- Strong experience in pricing, with specific knowledge and experience of discount modelling within either insurance, banking, financial or a similar industry.
- Proven experience leading discount modelling activity.
- Deep technical knowledge of pricing and analytical techniques.
- Experience using coding tools such as SQL, Snowflake or SAS.
- Experience with visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong experience with statistical modelling software.
