Secure Government & Defence Programmes UK | Hybrid + Client Site

Active DV clearance required, non-negotiable.

Datatech Analytics is supporting a leading UK consulting and technology organisation delivering secure, enterprise-scale data platforms across defence, national security and classified government programmes. We're looking to speak with Principal Data Architects who want to take ownership of architecture across complex, high-impact environments where security, scale and performance all matter.

The Role

A senior architecture position with real ownership. You'll define and lead the technical direction of large-scale data platforms, working closely with senior stakeholders, engineers and delivery teams across critical transformation programmes. This is not advisory-only. You'll be close to delivery, shaping how platforms are actually built and used.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading enterprise data architecture across secure government programmes
  • Designing end-to-end platforms, from ingestion through to analytics and operational use
  • Building secure, scalable architectures for highly classified environments
  • Translating mission requirements into practical, deliverable solutions
  • Guiding engineering teams through implementation
  • Influencing architectural strategy and long-term capability

Technology environment

You'll typically be working across:

  • AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
  • Databricks and Snowflake
  • Lake, lakehouse and modern warehouse architectures
  • Distributed data processing platforms
  • DevOps, Infrastructure as Code and secure deployment patterns
  • Data governance, access control and analytics enablement

What we're looking for

  • Active DV clearance
  • Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise data platforms
  • Background in defence, national security or secure government environments
  • Deep expertise in cloud data architecture and secure platform design
  • Strong stakeholder influence at senior level
  • Experience leading teams across complex delivery programmes

Why this role

These programmes sit at the heart of the UK's secure data capability. The platforms you'll shape directly support operational decision-making in highly sensitive environments. Complex problems, real constraints, and work that has genuine impact.
