Datassential is a leading global intelligence platform for the food and beverage industry. Leveraging billions of data points and cutting‑edge AI, we provide a suite of innovative solutions that empower more than 90% of the world’s largest food and beverage brands to develop, market, and sell their products more effectively.
This is a hybrid role requiring an in‑office presence on a weekly basis.
Our team is technically proficient, quick to learn, and highly adaptable, ensuring we can tackle any challenge with expertise and agility. We are dedicated to building data pipelines that bridge customers with Datassential Operator data across global markets, and we are passionate about doing that work well. As our EMEA Senior ETL Analyst, you will have a direct impact on how we structure, automate, and evolve our data operations. We manage a complex data pipeline requiring attention to scalability, orchestration, quality control and embedded AI — and we are looking for someone who finds that kind of challenge genuinely exciting. We value work‑life balance and you will be joining a team and company that wants you to grow.
Who You Are
- Passionate about data and love thinking about how pipelines should be structured and optimised.
- Fluent in low‑code ETL environments and understand both their power and their limits.
- Driven by a desire to eliminate manual processes and replace them with reliable, automated workflows.
- Curious about where new technologies—including AI and LLMs—can be embedded into data pipelines to create smarter, more autonomous processing.
- Comfortable evaluating tools and making architecture recommendations, not just executing within a prescribed stack.
- A collaborative communicator who can translate technical trade‑offs into plain language for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Equally comfortable building and advising—you can get your hands dirty in Alteryx while also stepping back to assess whether the architecture around it is right.
- Automation is always front of mind.
What You Will Do
- Act as a full‑time Senior ETL Analyst on our Client Data Solutions team, focused on EMEA data operations. Our primary ETL environment is Alteryx.
- Assess how our processing environment is structured, identify paths to improving orchestration and automation, and help us streamline and become faster and more flexible as our data processing cycles grow shorter.
- Build and maintain data workflows, implementing processes to support new data sources and improved processing across 80 countries, with a focus on increasing speed, reducing manual intervention, and improving automated QC practices.
- Assess the current EMEA Alteryx environment and provide structured recommendations on how to improve scalability, concurrency, and automation within our existing low‑code model.
- Build, maintain, and optimise Alteryx workflows for EMEA data processing, focusing on reusability and low manual‑touch operation.
- Embed LLM‑based processing steps (using Claude via the Anthropic API) into data pipelines for automated QC checks, data classification, and other AI‑assisted manipulation tasks.
- Analyse data from different sources and design pipelines that produce clean, reliable output delivered to databases, SFTP, S3, or downstream systems.
- Develop and incorporate domain expertise in foodservice data to apply in meeting required standards for data integrity and relevant insights creation.
- Create and maintain process documentation for EMEA pipelines, ensuring workflows are understandable and maintainable by the broader team.
- Design and manage ad hoc client‑related data projects throughout the year.
- Manage project communications with internal stakeholders across EMEA and global teams.
- Evaluate emerging tooling relevant to our pipeline architecture, and make grounded recommendations on adoption.
- Work with Developers, DevOps, and Product teams to understand Datassential's broader data infrastructure and ensure EMEA pipeline architecture aligns with it.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience working in data operations, ETL development, or a closely related role.
- Hands‑on proficiency with Alteryx or an equivalent low‑code ETL platform (KNIME, EasyMorph, Dataiku, or similar) — you build workflows, not just describe them.
- Demonstrated experience improving or redesigning ETL pipeline architecture, not just executing within one.
- Familiarity with orchestration concepts: dependency management, event‑driven triggers, scheduling, retry logic, and exception routing.
- Strong SQL knowledge across one or more environments.
- Genuine interest in how AI and LLMs can be embedded in data workflows — experience with API‑based LLM integration is a strong plus.
- Ability to evaluate tools critically and communicate trade‑offs clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Minimum of BA/BS in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work effectively across time zones in a remote‑first, globally distributed team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Alteryx Server administration, including scheduling, publishing workflows, and managing concurrency.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as n8n, Apache Airflow, or Prefect.
- Experience calling external APIs (including LLM providers) from within data pipeline steps.
- Familiarity with cloud storage environments (AWS S3, SFTP, or similar).
- Experience with Python or equivalent scripting for lightweight automation tasks.
- Familiarity with project management frameworks such as Kanban or Scrum.
- Familiarity with Jira/Confluence.
- Exposure to the foodservice or restaurant industry data landscape.
