Overview

Subcontract Manager – Warminster – 6 month Contract with chance of extension (40 hours per week) – Β£68 – Β£78 per hour (Inside IR35) – SC Clearance or willing to undergo.

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Subcontract Manager to lead and manage moderately sized subcontracting projects and processes for a key Defence programme. You will need to be a Commercial expert with advanced knowledge of subcontract management, ideally within the Defence industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Subcontractors / Suppliers on a Defence contract.
  • Manage suppliers with contracts between Β£50 – Β£100m, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Act as a Subcontracts SME, contributing to the development of operational plans, budgets, and discipline-specific goals.
  • Solve numerous and often complex problems with our client\’s supply chain.
  • Manage and negotiate contracts, non-disclosure agreements and terms and conditions.
  • Drive moderate to significant improvements in processes, systems, or products to enhance performance across multiple departments, suppliers or projects.
  • Communicate and collaborate with suppliers and customers, to influence policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals as required.
  • Develop new solutions, projects, processes, or standards in support of business strategy.

Key Skills / Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years within Commercial roles.
  • Some Defence experience is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of subcontract management, supplier engagement, and contract execution.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate independently and influence across functions.
  • Proven experience in managing complex subcontracting activities and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at an operational level.
  • Experience operating in joint or matrixed teams.
  • Focused on outcomes, delivery, and operational excellence.

Additional Information

  • Working Patterns and location: hybrid role with 60 – 80% home working and 20 – 40% on site.
  • Umbrella company arrangement for off-payroll working rules; income tax and primary national insurance contributions deducted at source.
  • Part-time opportunities/flexible working available to suit individual needs.
  • You will be required to hold a minimum of SC clearance. If you do not hold an active SC clearance, please familiarise yourself with the vetting process before applying.
