Our client is an established consultancy delivering technology solutions within complex and business‑critical environments. As they continue through a significant period of change and transformation, they are looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer who can quickly integrate into the team and make an immediate impact.
Working Patterns and location: Remote, 1 day per month on site.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver, implement, and maintain IT operational solutions across both physical and virtualised infrastructure environments.
- Proactively monitor infrastructure and application performance, identifying, escalating, and resolving issues to maintain service availability.
- Develop and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation to support systems and services throughout their lifecycle.
- Execute day‑to‑day operational activities in accordance with established procedures, policies, and operational standards.
- Act as a senior technical lead, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to infrastructure colleagues and stakeholders.
- Contribute to service transition and change activities across Development, Live Services, and Infrastructure functions.
- Ensure all activities are delivered in line with organisational standards, compliance requirements, KPIs, and service level expectations.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvement and drive initiatives that enhance service quality, resilience, and efficiency.
Skills & experience:
- Extensive experience supporting and managing infrastructure operations within both physical and virtualised environments.
- Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) methodologies, processes, and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to monitor infrastructure and application services, diagnose issues, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Demonstrable experience managing incidents, troubleshooting complex problems, and driving issues through to successful resolution.
- Skilled in producing and maintaining high‑quality technical documentation, operational procedures, and support processes.
- Experience working within service‑focused environments, consistently delivering against KPI, SLA, and operational targets.
- Established senior‑level expertise with the capability to provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers and wider teams.
Additional Desired Skills:
- Experience with asset and configuration management processes.
- Knowledge of availability and capacity management practices.
- Coding or scripting ability to support automation and infrastructure tasks.
- Familiarity with change management processes in live service environments.
