This is a hands-on Platform Engineer role focused on supporting and enhancing Kubernetes and OpenShift environments, managing Linux systems, improving automation, and ensuring secure, resilient platform operations. Ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working onsite with specialist teams, and making a direct impact in a high-security environment.
Working Patterns and location - This role is based full time on site.
Key responsibilities
- Build, support and enhance Kubernetes platform environments with a strong focus on OpenShift.
- Administer, maintain and troubleshoot Linux systems supporting core platform services.
- Manage container orchestration, workload deployments and full cluster lifecycle activities.
- Configure and support networking components including DNS, load balancing, ingress/egress, firewalls and network policies.
- Drive automation using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tooling.
- Monitor platform performance, investigate incidents and complete root cause analysis.
- Deliver upgrades, patching and capacity planning across Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters.
- Help define technical standards, maintain documentation and promote best practice.
Skills & experience
- Proven hands-on experience administering Linux systems within live production environments.
- Strong practical knowledge of Kubernetes, including cluster management, troubleshooting and workload orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with OpenShift, including operators, image streams, routes and RBAC.
