Introduction

Our client is a Defence organisation looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join their team of 12 supporting projects within the Defence/Government sector.

This role supports a single source contract, so experience in this area would be a significant advantage! Project and bid experience within a business partnering role is essential.

Working Patterns: This role is based in Bristol, with 2 days per week in the office, and 3 days on busier occasions.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee major frameworks/projects, leading on financial compliance and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Handle operational and financial accounting regarding single source frameworks and major projects.
  • Produce financial reporting in line with government guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, preparing and reviewing bids from a financial perspective, and reporting internally and externally.
  • Work closely with clients, delivery, and operational managers to ensure robust accounting procedures are in place.
  • Liaise with CAAS covering the annual audit of the SSRO rates.
  • Advise Client Managers on strategic bids and assist in decision-making around growth areas.
  • Manage the creation and integrity of bid models utilized across the division.
  • Develop Project Accounting skills through training and on-the-job knowledge transfer.
  • Undertake deep dive project reviews on an ad hoc basis to ensure compliance with group policies.
  • Responsible for Research and Development tax credit reporting, PSA reporting, and audit coordination.

Skills & experience

  • Experience in a similar Finance Business Partnering role is essential.
  • Experience supporting projects and bids is essential.
  • A qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with post-qualified experience.
  • Knowledge of single source regulations and reporting requirements would be beneficial.
  • The role will require some travel.
  • Well-developed commercial knowledge and business understanding.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge.
  • Comfortable working with project teams and all levels of stakeholders.
