Introduction
This is a senior and influential role responsible for costing and pricing activities for Ministry of Defence projects and programmes. The position plays a critical role in shaping defence rates, supporting bids, and ensuring full compliance with MOD and audit requirements.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business and the MOD, leading commercial discussions and negotiating rates and pricing where required. Proven experience in defence pricing and rate negotiation is essential for success in this role.
Working Patterns: Up to 3 days per week on your local site, the rest of the role can be done remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the costing and pricing of contracts with the Ministry of Defence.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to senior leadership, owning key stakeholder relationships.
- Lead and develop a team of experienced Cost and Pricing Analysts.
- Own rate submissions, including monthly and annual rate cycles.
- Develop, maintain and calculate rate decks.
- Calculate estimated and actual costing and pricing overheads used in bid pricing.
- Calculate estimated and actual average labour rates.
- Serve as the single point of contact for all rates-related analysis, reporting and queries.
- Work with the business to understand labour, materials, ODCs, subcontracting, R&Os and investment drivers.
- Develop a strong understanding of functional labour, utilisation, headcount and indirect cost drivers.
- Provide stakeholders with recovery forecasts and budgets.
- Ensure full compliance with MOD regulations and external auditors.
- Coordinate all programme reporting and audit activity with the MOD
Skills & experience
- Proven experience leading a pricing and/or rates team within the defence industry.
- Fully qualified CIMA, ACCA, ACA (or equivalent).
- Strong senior stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate commercial arrangements.
- Experience with proposal and bid processes such as RLPM / IPDS.
- Experience working within a global or matrix organisation (desirable).
