As a Defence Supply Chain Transformation Consultant, you will work alongside Defence clients to transform end-to-end supply chain operations, improve operational resilience, and deliver innovative solutions across high-profile programmes. You will lead workstreams, engage senior stakeholders, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and help shape future operating models that support mission success. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Defence, Aerospace, Manufacturing, FMCG, or consulting experience looking to apply their supply chain expertise within a leading consultancy.

Working Patterns and Location – Hybrid, 2–3 days on site per week with UK-wide travel as required.

The Key Responsibilities of a Defence Supply Chain Transformation Consultant:

  • Lead workstreams across complex Defence supply chain transformation programmes.
  • Analyse existing supply chain operations and identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience, efficiency, and cost.
  • Design and implement supply chain operating models, governance frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support Defence clients with supplier strategy, supplier performance management, and operational transformation.
  • Develop and monitor supply chain KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting to support data-driven decision making.
  • Facilitate workshops and engage senior client stakeholders to understand business challenges and define transformation roadmaps.
  • Support procurement, logistics, manufacturing, and programme teams throughout project delivery.
  • Deliver supply chain improvement projects across planning, production, inventory, supplier management, and logistics.
  • Identify programme risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to developing internal supply chain capability.
  • Support business development activities, proposals, and client presentations where required.

Below is a list of Key Skills required for a Defence Supply Chain Transformation Consultant, however you will not be expected to have everything:

  • Experience delivering supply chain, operations, procurement, or logistics improvements within Defence, Aerospace, Manufacturing, FMCG, or a consultancy environment.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes including planning, supplier management, logistics, manufacturing, and inventory.
  • Experience delivering business transformation or operational improvement projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting complex operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Experience developing KPI frameworks and performance reporting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Collaborative approach with experience working across cross-functional teams.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Previous experience working within Defence or Central Government.
  • Understanding of Defence supply chain challenges and operational readiness.
  • Experience with supply chain transformation, organisational change, or operating model design.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Business Central.
  • Experience using data visualisation and analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Excel.
  • Experience contributing to bids, proposals, or client business development activities.
  • Professional qualifications in Supply Chain, Procurement, Project Management, or Continuous Improvement.
