Commissioning Manager – Reading – 12 month Contract (40 Hours per week) – £60 – £67 per hour (Inside IR35) – DV Clearance

Our client is seeking an Operational Readiness Lead to support a high-profile nuclear infrastructure programme. You will be responsible for overseeing the readiness of complex systems and facilities through planning, commissioning, validation, and handover, ensuring they meet operational requirements and comply with regulatory standards.

This role is key in ensuring systems are safely and effectively transitioned into service, requiring strong technical expertise in mechanical, process, electrical, or instrumentation and control disciplines.

Working Patterns and location – This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week on site.

The Key Responsibilities of an Operational Readiness and Commissioning Lead:

  • Develop readiness strategies and detailed plans and implement robust processes.
  • Lead Verification and Validation (V&V) activities ensuring the systems meet design and safety requirements.
  • Stakeholder relationship management.
  • Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Setting to Work (STW) processes.
  • Problem resolution during testing phases.
  • Lead the delivery of work packages within a complex and highly regulated infrastructure programme.
  • Ensure compliance with ONR Licence Condition 21 and related readiness and commissioning procedures.

Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Operational Readiness and Commissioning Lead role, however you will not be expected to have everything:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in Verification & Validation processes (V-Model).
  • Demonstrable experience in developing testing and readiness strategies.
  • Proven experience of complex project delivery within nuclear or similarly regulated sectors.
  • Understanding of nuclear safety standards and site authorisation conditions.
  • Complex project management, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Honours Degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Working towards or existing professional accreditation with a recognised body.
  • Technical proficiency in mechanical, process, electrical, or instrumentation and control systems.
