Are you an experienced procurement professional ready to make an impact in the Defence sector?

We're working with a leading Defence client who are looking for a talented Commercial Procurement Manager to join their growing team, operating across Bristol and London.

Working Patterns and location – Hybrid – 2-3 days on site per week

Key responsibilities

  • Lead procurement and commercial strategy across complex defence programmes.
  • Manage contracts end-to-end from initial tendering through to close-out.
  • Drive supplier performance and proactively manage commercial risk.
  • Support tendering processes and lead or contribute to contract negotiations.
  • Ensure governance and compliance with relevant procurement regulations.
  • Collaborate with client teams and internal stakeholders across air, land, sea, cyber and space programmes.
  • Provide commercial input and advice to programme and project managers.

Skills & experience

  • Proven experience in procurement or contract management, ideally in Defence or Government.
  • Strong ability to manage supplier performance and commercial risk.
  • Sound understanding of project and programme management environments.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to make confident decisions.
  • Working knowledge of DSPCR, PCR and/or the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Professional qualification in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, Law or Project Management — or equivalent experience.
  • MCIPS qualified (essential for this role).
  • The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:
  • Prior experience working on Government or public sector procurement programmes.
  • Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC or JCT contract frameworks.
  • Experience working within a management consultancy or advisory environment.
  • Familiarity with Defence sector programmes across air, land, sea, cyber or space domains.
