Staff Software Engineer, Backend in London

Dataminr is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our MSA team in the UK or Ireland. AI Innovation at Dataminr

Working at Dataminr you’ll have the opportunity to tackle the most exciting trends in AI on a daily basis to power a revolutionary product that uncovers critical events around the world as they unfold.

• Regenerative AI: our AI technology, ReGenAI, is a new form of generative AI that automatically regenerates real-time Live Event Briefs as events unfold.
• Agentic AI: we recently launched our Agentic AI capability, what we’re calling our Intel Agents, that autonomously generates critical context for our clients on real-time events, threats, and risks allowing them to see the clearest, most accurate view of what’s happening on the ground.
• Multimodal AI: our platform detects events from many different types of data (images, video, sensor data, audio, and text in over 150 languages).

The opportunity

• Influence the next iterations of our architecture as we strive to get critical data to our clients faster and with near-perfect reliability.
• Implement industry best practices along with novel patterns and technologies that will help improve the codebase and the product.
• Contribute code to production systems from the get-go.
• Share responsibility for several microservices and design significant features that impact multiple services.
• Partner with other members of the team to plan and deliver the next iteration of our customer applications to support emerging use cases for our product.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of experience building back end services and applications.
• Experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir, Erlang, Scala.
• Experience with Java, Python and/or other object-oriented programming languages.
• Experience working with large scale distributed systems, microservices and real-time streaming data.
• Strong object-oriented design, API design, data modeling, data storage/retrieval and coding skills.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Proven track record of implementing and following strong engineering practices through hands-on coding.
• Experience mentoring and/or influencing Sr and Jr engineering team members in evolving their skills as software engineers.
