The Head of Operations is a strategic, market-facing leadership role responsible for shaping and developing DPI’s AI-ready infrastructure offering.

The role focuses on solution development, product strategy, client solution shaping, technical-commercial positioning, and go-to-market support.

Working closely with clients, technology partners, consultants, and internal stakeholders, the role will lead the development of innovative solutions that meet the evolving demands of data centre, AI, HPC, and critical infrastructure markets.

The role is focused on proposition development, solution innovation, and commercial engagement.

The postholder will play a key role in identifying market opportunities, developing scalable products, supporting major bids and proposals, and strengthening DPI’s position as a leading provider of data centre solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the development and evolution of DPI’s data centre and AI-ready infrastructure proposition.
  • Create and maintain standardised models for scalable deployment across industries and geographies, including AI/HPC data halls, power, cooling, generator, edge data centre, and lifecycle service solutions.
  • Establish design principles, solution standards, and repeatable frameworks that support efficient delivery and commercial competitiveness.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, market trends, and customer requirements to ensure DPI remains at the forefront of infrastructure innovation.
  • Support early-stage client engagement activities, helping customers define requirements and business objectives.
  • Translate customer needs into concepts, solution architectures, outline designs, and high-level implementation strategies.
  • Lead technical-commercial presentations for concepts, value propositions, and solution strategies to clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Support strategic customer relationships within the data centre, AI infrastructure, hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation sectors.
  • Support the development of bids, tenders, proposals, and technical submissions for opportunities.
  • Prepare technical narratives, solution documentation, conceptual designs, assumptions, and supporting materials.
  • Contribute to pricing methodologies, reusable commercial templates, and bid strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with commercial, engineering, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are technically robust and commercially viable.
  • Help define product roadmaps and future service offerings aligned with market demand.
  • Support the creation of go-to-market strategies for new products and solutions.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with technology vendors, OEMs, cooling and power specialists, and key supply chain partners.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and partnership opportunities that enhance DPI’s offering.
  • Support the development of collaborative vendor and partner strategies to strengthen capability and market reach.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, delivery, commercial, and operational teams.
  • Support the development of design standards, processes, and methodologies.
  • Contribute to internal capability building and the development of DPI’s expertise.
  • Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
  • Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience within data centres, critical infrastructure, and off-site construction.
  • Strong understanding and market knowledge of data centre technologies including power, cooling, commissioning, and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience leading technical-commercial discussions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strategic and commercially aware thinker.
  • Strong client engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
