DATAHEAD is exclusively partnering with a globally respected insurance group to appoint a Senior Portfolio Analytics & Strategy Lead. This pivotal role sits within the underwriting leadership team and is responsible for driving portfolio insights, strategic evaluation and high-quality analytics that shape the group’s underwriting performance.
Operating in a complex international environment with listed entity obligations, you’ll help oversee the net underwriting portfolio by delivering analysis and strategic recommendations that inform senior underwriting and executive decision-making. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver monthly portfolio reviews and strategic underwriting analysis, preparing high-quality MI for leadership, committees and Board discussions.
- Evaluate in-year changes to underwriting plans, assessing risk, reinsurance impacts and economic outcomes.
- Own and enhance underwriting data models (Excel, Power BI, SQL), ensuring robust, accurate and insightful outputs.
- Support business planning cycles, helping ensure proposed underwriting strategies align with group risk appetite.
- Provide market, competitor and diversification analysis to support strategic initiatives and new opportunities.
- Collaborate across underwriting, actuarial, capital and trading partners to embed strong governance and a performance-focused culture.
Your Profile
- Sweet spot is roughly a decade of experience in speciality insurance or reinsurance (multi-class), ideally in underwriting or actuarial teams.
- Advanced data skills: Excel (incl. VBA), Power BI (DAX), familiarity with SQL databases.
- Proven ability to turn complex analytics into clear, strategic recommendations.
- Strong commercial awareness, quality focus and ability to engage senior stakeholders.
- Experience within a listed group or multi-entity environment a plus.
- CII or equivalent qualifications desirable.
