Portfolio Performance & Underwriting Analytics Lead

A leading specialty (re)insurer is hiring a strategic analytics lead to support its C-Suite team in driving group-level portfolio performance. This is a high-impact role blending commercial underwriting analytics, strategic MI development, and hands-on engagement with senior stakeholders across underwriting, actuarial, capital and finance.
You’ll help shape decision-making across multi-class portfolios, bringing clarity, structure, and actionable insight in a fast-paced, complex environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver monthly portfolio performance exhibits, dashboards, and insights for CUO and board-level committees
- Evaluate in-year changes to underwriting plans and provide recommendations aligned with risk appetite and strategic goals
- Own and enhance the Underwriting Data Model, including automation, validation, and reporting processes
- Conduct gross-to-net analysis and assess impact of outwards reinsurance structures
- Provide commercial insight into market conditions, performance trends, and diversification opportunities
- Support execution of group underwriting strategy including new product and territory assessments
- Ensure data quality, version control, and stakeholder engagement across analytics deliverables
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in underwriting analytics, performance monitoring, or portfolio MI
- 10+ years in the (re)insurance sector, ideally within a Lloyd’s or listed environment
- Proven experience working closely with CUOs, underwriters, and actuarial teams
- Advanced Power BI, Excel and data interrogation skills (SQL, DAX, VBA a plus)
- Understanding of multi-class portfolios, reinsurance structures, and capital impact
- Comfortable producing insights for senior committees, with strong written and verbal presentation skills
- Highly structured, commercially aware, and quality-driven with strong stakeholder influence
