DATAHEAD are working with a leading global reinsurance group to appoint an ambitious Underwriter to join their European team. This is a rare opportunity to work directly with CUOs and senior leadership, underwriting large and often bespoke risks across multiple classes — including Property, Casualty, Cyber, and Financial Lines — while building trusted relationships with brokers and clients in the London and international markets. You’ll underwrite a diversified portfolio of specialty and reinsurance business, analysing deals from both a technical and commercial perspective. This is an ideal step for an Assistant Underwriter or Portfolio Analyst ready to gain greater authority, client exposure, and the variety that comes from writing complex, high-value placements (typically £10m–£15m).
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate, price, and underwrite submissions across multiple specialty classes.
- Collaborate with CUO and senior underwriters on deal strategy, structuring, and onboarding.
- Engage directly with brokers and clients, negotiating terms and managing renewals.
- Support portfolio performance analysis and reporting to senior management.
- Contribute to new product development and process improvements within the team.
What We’re Looking For
- 2–4 years’ experience in underwriting, assistant underwriting, or portfolio analysis within specialty or reinsurance lines.
- Exposure to Property, Casualty, Cyber, or Financial Lines preferred, though multiclass flexibility is key.
- Confident working with data and analytics to inform underwriting decisions.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in client and broker relationships.
- Progress toward Cert CII or equivalent qualification advantageous.
Why Apply
This is your chance to join a high-growth, global reinsurer that blends technical excellence with entrepreneurial energy. You’ll gain exceptional exposure to underwriting leadership, global clients, and multi-line business — a platform where you can grow fast, learn broadly, and make an impact. If you’re looking for the next step in your underwriting career — one that offers breadth, visibility, and momentum — we’d love to hear from you.
