My client, a leading Transport Haulage company, requires a Transport Planner to support the Transport Manager with the routing and planning of a diverse Haulage fleet. The role requires close collaboration with project managers, customers, and drivers to ensure that all General Haulage transport requirements are thoroughly planned and executed to a high standard, delivering exceptional levels of customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan all General Haulage movements effectively to maximise fleet efficiency, reduce empty mileage, and optimise vehicle utilisation.
  • Sourcing additional back loads or additional work to infill fluctuations in schedules and maintain a profitable operation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all General Haulage drivers, providing support and resolving daily issues.
  • Maintain a Live Traffic Management System to show real-time visibility of the fleet's activities.
  • Despatch drivers with all job details, clearly and concisely.
  • Monitor vehicle movements to proactively report delays, reroute as needed, and maintain service levels.
  • Plan all vehicle movements in the most cost-effective manner to improve utilisation with a focus on efficiency.
  • Liaise with customers to understand load requirements, vehicle specifications, time constraints, and site-specific risks or constraints.
  • Oversee the fleet to ensure delivery and collection times are met.
  • Plan vehicles & trailers to ensure maintenance inspections are completed.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years transport planning experience of a multi-vehicle fleet.
  • Experience submitting abnormal load route notifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft IT systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and schedule a multi-vehicle fleet.

Desirable Skills:

  • OLAT Trained or Transport Managers CPC.
  • Previous experience working with Transport Planning Software.
  • Familiarity with STGO Regulations.
  • Understanding of Technical drawings.
  • Previous experience working with Transport Planning Software.
