We are looking to recruit an Azure Cloud Engineer for a technology driven public sector organisation.

This is a senior technical role focused on managing, securing and modernising a Microsoft Azure environment across multiple subscriptions. The organisation is looking for someone with strong hands‑on Azure engineering experience who can create and govern new cloud services, act as a technical escalation point, support cloud‑first delivery and work closely with application teams to onboard services into Azure.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as a senior technical specialist across Azure and Microsoft cloud services
  • Manage an Azure estate across multiple subscriptions, including the creation of new subscriptions and implementation of governance standards
  • Design, implement and support secure, scalable Azure cloud solutions
  • Design and administer Azure Resource Groups, RBAC, Azure Policies and management groups
  • Manage Azure networking including VNets, NSGs, DNS, app gateways, load balancing and VPN connectivity
  • Administer Azure Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts and Key Vault
  • Configure and improve Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity and Conditional Access policies
  • Work closely with application teams to onboard new services into Azure and provide technical guidance
  • Support the modernisation of legacy infrastructure into cloud‑first services
  • Provide technical assurance, documentation and best practice guidance
  • Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity and service availability improvements
  • Work with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver secure and resilient technology services
  • Mentor and support other engineers, acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues
  • Strong hands‑on Azure cloud engineering experience in an enterprise or public sector environment
  • Experience managing an Azure estate across multiple subscriptions
  • Experience designing and administering Azure Resource Groups, RBAC, Azure Policies and management groups
  • Experience creating new Azure subscriptions and implementing governance standards
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking including VNets, NSGs, VPN connectivity and DNS
  • Experience administering Azure Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts and Key Vault
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, hybrid identity and Conditional Access
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in an operational environment with service improvement, incident/problem management and ITIL-style processes
  • Exchange on-prem to Exchange Online / hybrid Exchange
  • PKI / certificate services
  • Public sector, policing or secure environment experience
  • Active Directory, Windows Server and broader Microsoft infrastructure experience
