Are you a seasoned infrastructure professional with deep technical skills across cloud and on-prem environments? Join a leading UK IT consultancy delivering complex infrastructure support and solutions for central government clients.
We are looking for an SC Cleared Senior Cloud Engineer to play a hands-on role supporting internal, customer, and developer-facing systems across private, public, and hybrid cloud environments. You'll take ownership of escalated incidents, help resolve major issues, and work closely with both project and support teams to maintain high availability and integrity of critical services. To be considered for this role you must hold SC Clearance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure incidents escalated from the Service Desk
- Collaborating with Problem Managers to investigate and permanently resolve recurring issues
- Ensuring requests for support are handled within agreed SLAs
- Delivering expert hands-on support across a range of hosting environments - from traditional on-premise infrastructure to Microsoft Azure
- Creating and maintaining support documentation, including knowledge base articles
- Supporting project handovers and ensuring new solutions are support-ready
- Helping maintain secure, resilient, and well-documented systems across enterprise-scale environments
- Assisting in physical infrastructure tasks when required (e.g., hardware swaps, cabling)
Technical Skills Required
- Microsoft Azure: Strong experience across IaaS, PaaS, and Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Windows Server: 2012 R2 through to 2022, including core services (DNS, DHCP, IIS, RDS, DFS, GPO)
- Active Directory: Complex environments with multiple forests/domains
- Office 365: Tenant setup and configuration to best practice
- Virtualisation: VMware, Hyper-V
- Storage & Resilience: Dell/HP SANs, clustering, geographically redundant setups
- Monitoring & Backup: Microsoft System Center (SCOM), Veeam, DPM, Commvault
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Bicep
- Firewall Basics: Fortigate, Sophos
- Automation: PowerShell scripting for task automation
- Security & Compliance: Familiarity with common standards and frameworks
