The Business Development Executive (BDE) is responsible for generating and qualifying leads in the early stages of the sales process. You will focus on identifying and engaging potential customers, primarily within the UK Public Sector (Local Government, NHS, NDPB, Blue Light, NFP, HE, and FE), but also explore opportunities outside these sectors.
The role involves researching target organisations, initiating conversations, and positioning products/services effectively. The BDE will use multiple outreach channels (email, digital, phone, LinkedIn, and events) to build relationships, understand customer needs, and assess alignment with the company's offerings. Success depends on building rapport and driving opportunities for the sales team.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead generation & prospecting including; identifying potential clients, developing targeted outreach strategies and building a database of leads using CRM tools.
- Outbound engagement including; conducting cold calls, nurturing and qualifying leads and setting up introductory meetings.
- Market and competitor research; monitoring industry trends, identifying new opportunities and gathering intelligence on customer pain points.
- Collaboration; working closely with marketing on lead nurturing campaigns, providing insights from customer interactions.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 years experience.
- A degree in relevant field is desirable.
- Confidence in cold outreach calls, including emails and LinkedIn messaging.
- Previous experience working within a B2B environment is essential.
- Working for an IT Services/Professional Services/SaaS would be beneficial.
This role is commutable by car and train from Bath, Avonmouth, Stroud, Tetbury and Weston-Super-Mare.
