The Solutions Architect (EDW Migrations) executes on Databricks’ strategic product lines to develop, establish and drive product adoption and product market fit to grow customer adoption across EMEA. By working with leadership, product and direct account teams, you will jointly engage customers, foster the necessary relationships and position in-depth approaches to migrating their EDW to the Databricks Intelligence Platform. You will develop the appropriate approach, the guardrails, and the steps needed for customers to successfully deliver on their business objectives.
The Solutions Architect (EDW Migrations) is paired with Product Specialists for Data and Governance. Together, you will devise and implement a strategy across key accounts, develop presentations, demos and other assets, and with account teams deliver them such that the field and customers make informed decisions on adoption strategy and its implementation.
The impact you will have
- Lead Regional Migration Strategy: Collaborate with EMEA GTM leadership and account teams to design and drive the technical GTM and adoption strategy for large-scale EDW migrations to the Databricks Intelligence Platform.
- Develop Programmatic and Scalable Migration Processes: Architect and continuously refine programmatic assets and detailed technical guides that enable field teams and partners to execute migrations.
- Build and Integrate Assessment Tooling: Help maintain, enhance, and direct the development of automated assessment tools from customer engagements.
- Drive Tier-3 Technical Championship: Act as the ultimate technical escalation point for highly complex, strategic, or stalled migrations in must-win accounts across EMEA.
- Enable and Scale the Regional teams: Scale the presales migration practice by mentoring and coaching the EMEA community of Solutions Architects (SAs) and Specialist SAs (SSAs) to ensure scale.
- Bridge Field Insights and Product R&D: Serve as a primary technical feedback loop to Product Management and Engineering.
- Establish Industry Thought Leadership: Author whitepapers, publish technical blogs, and deliver high-impact presentations at public forums (such as the Data + AI Summit) to position the Databricks Intelligence Platform as the premier platform for enterprise database modernization.
- Handle the most complex technical challenges in this product line by acting as the tier-3 escalation point for the field, ensuring customer success in mission-critical environments.
Competencies & Responsibilities
- 8+ Years of Customer-Facing Experience in a customer-facing pre-sales, architect, or consulting role influencing technical executives (CIOs, CISOs, DBAs, and Platform Leads) and driving high-level database modernization strategy.
- Legacy Data Warehouse & Modernization Architecture understanding of legacy EDW systems (any of Teradata, Netezza, Snowflake, Synapse, Redshift, and Exadata) and architectures required to successfully transition workloads to the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
- Mastery of migration migrations scope & progression taking customers from EDW to the full capabilities of the Data Intelligence Platform.
- Demonstrated competence in the Lakehouse architecture including hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Python and SQL.
- Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
- Public Cloud Architecting: Hands-on experience designing and implementing big data architectures within major public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strategic Enablement & Community Mentorship: Experience collaborating with Professional Services and Global Systems Integrators to standardize migration delivery methodologies and ensure smooth handoffs.
