Group Data Operations Manager
Liverpool, Glasgow or London (Hybrid)
£70,000–£80,000 + bonus
Step into a new leadership position where you’ll lead the Data Operations support function with real autonomy and the tools to do it right. You’ll lead during a major transformation, with processes, platforms and priorities all up for reinvention. That means nothing’s set in stone.
So if you thrive on variety, hands-on problem-solving, and leaving things better than you found them, this gives you the freedom to build the function the way you think it should run.
You will have a unique opportunity to manage your own AWS cloud accounts with freedom to experiment and try new technologies and implement creative approaches to problems.
You’ll work across some of the most widely used data tools in the industry (Power BI, Snowflake, Alteryx, ServiceNow), lead a smart technical team, and set the tone for how data support is delivered across the business. No layers of sign-off — decisions are fast, and you\’re trusted to make them.
With hybrid flexibility, you\’ll divide your time between home and one of three key offices (Liverpool, Glasgow or London) plus regular visits across sites to keep your stakeholder relationships sharp.
You’ll have:
- Full control over how Data operations/support is structured, delivered and improved
- The freedom to introduce new technology and shape team processes
- A flat reporting structure that backs your ideas with quick decisions
- A team of technically capable people who don’t need micromanaging
- Bonus + pension + flexible working
What you’ll own and lead:
- End-to-end management of 2nd-line data platform support — from incidents to root cause prevention
- Oversight of core platforms: Snowflake, Power BI, Alteryx, Power Platform, and APIs
- Set and agree support models for dashboards, APIs and key data services
- Own P1 response and act as service owner for critical data systems
- Improve release/change processes and lead production readiness across teams
- Coach a self-sufficient team and drive smarter monitoring and alerting
What you’ll bring:
- Solid grasp of ITIL and modern service management
- Broad knowledge of IT and data systems (databases, APIs, cloud, networking)
- Experience in a regulated environment (e.g. finance or healthcare)
- Confident leadership of small teams — coaching and escalation included
- Calm, pragmatic approach with the ability to influence technical and non-technical teams
