About the Role
Data Protection Education is a specialist consultancy providing information governance and DPO services to schools, trusts, and local authorities. We are looking for a consultant who understands the "inner workings" of a school to help deliver our data protection framework. We are especially interested in someone with ICT experience at a multi-academy trust level with a good understanding of cyber security and the DfE Digital Standards, though we are open to other experiences. School or MAT experience is a must. This is a multi-faceted role combining on-site consultancy, account management, and technical support for our core legal team.
What We Offer
- True Flexibility: We support home-working and can offer term-time-only contracts for those who need to balance work with school holidays.
- Professional Growth: We provide admin support so you can focus on delivery, and we will sponsor you to gain internationally recognised data protection certifications.
- Collaborative Environment: You’ll work alongside legal professionals and school experts, ensuring you always have the backup you need for complex cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Management: Lead the relationship for Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) and schools (approx. 3-4 days per week).
- Compliance Consultations: Conduct both in-school and remote audits to assess compliance and advise on implementation. This may include standalone cyber assessments.
- Content Contribution: Help develop policies and best-practice guidance for our online Knowledge Bank in the area of ICT, cyber security and digital standards.
About You
We are looking for "strong personalities" who understand the schools and MATs and aren't afraid to challenge the status quo. You are likely a match if you fit one of these profiles:
- An experienced School Business Manager (SBM), IT Manager, or similar.
- An existing DPO, compliance or Information Governance professional.
Essential Requirements:
- UK Travel: You must be able to visit schools across the UK (1-2 days a week during term time, occasionally involving an overnight stay). We are particularly looking for additional coverage in East of England and South East (Kent/Sussex).
- Transport: You must have your own transport (all standard expenses reimbursed) and a full UK driving licence.
- Technical Literacy: Strong skills in MS365 and GSuite are vital. You must have experience working in UK schools.
Benefits
- Salary: 40k per annum (FTE)
- 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
- Stakeholder pension.
- Support for professional qualifications.
