A Junior Data Protection Officer supports the organisation’s Legal Director by assisting in the delivery of data protection advice, oversight, and quality assurance to our Customers. This is a mid-level professional role designed for someone building a career in data protection, privacy and information governance or a paralegal looking for a retrain position. You are expected to have some practical experience in data protection, law or school administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Support & Oversight
    • Support the Legal Director in providing data protection advice to Customer organisations
    • Review and quality-check Customer documentation, including privacy notices, policies, and records
    • Help monitor Customer compliance against GDPR and data protection standards
    • Prepare written feedback and improvement recommendations for clients
  • Data Subject Rights Oversight
    • Review and quality-check DSAR redaction and the processing of data rights requests
    • Assist in auditing response quality, timeliness, and compliance
    • Provide guidance to clients on best practice
  • Breach & Incident Oversight
    • Support the review of client data breach reports
    • Assist in assessing risk and whether regulatory notification may be required
    • Help document advice and outcomes
  • Governance & Assurance
    • Support development and reviews of client Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs)
    • Assist with supplier due diligence and client DPIAs
    • Help prepare compliance reports, risk summaries and assurance packs
  • Training & Guidance
    • Help develop client-facing guidance, templates and training materials
    • Respond to basic client data protection queries
    • Promote good data protection practice across client organisations
  • Third Party & Contract Reviews
    • Support reviews of data processing agreements and supplier contracts
    • Assist with identifying GDPR risks in client data sharing arrangements
  • Onsite Audits
    • Support lead DPO with onsite data protection audits and inspections
