Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced, hands-on Migration Test Manager to lead testing for a complex legacy-to-modern platform migration. This is a migration-specific role, not a generic test management position. The focus is heavily data-driven, with the majority of test coverage derived from mapping logic and ETL validation, rather than UI-based testing. The role requires someone who can lead, design, and execute testing personally, while managing a small test team and navigating a highly dynamic migration environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and own the migration test strategy, scope, and approach
- Lead end-to-end data migration testing, including ETL validation and reconciliation
- Translate data mapping specifications into robust migration test scenarios
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, and integrity across source and target platforms
- Manage defect triage, prioritisation, and resolution
- Provide clear, concise reporting to senior stakeholders
- Support go-live readiness, cutover testing, and post-migration validation
- Confidently challenge assumptions and push back where quality is at risk
- Operate effectively where mappings and target structures evolve iteratively
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a Migration Test Manager / Lead within financial services
- Strong understanding of data migration testing (not SIT/UAT)
- Experience testing migrations involving large, aged legacy datasets
- Strong ETL testing and data validation background
- Confident SQL skills for data interrogation and reconciliation
- Experience managing ambiguity and change in migration programmes
- Wealth management platform experience highly desirable
- Avaloq experience advantageous
