Are you an experienced data professional looking for your next challenge? We need you! We need someone who can ensure our technical delivery to our clients is always high-quality and support our tech team in their day-to-day roles. This role will be a great fit if you are an experienced data architect or other tech lead in the world of data; someone who has been hands-on in the past, and is all over general tech best-practice, but can also see the big picture. This is not an entry-level position and is not a primarily hands-on technical role.
We’re DATA3, award-winning global data + AI consultants + builders. We power our clients’ growth using data + AI. We review, select, set up + support all of their organisation’s data + AI tools. We work with UK and global clients across all sectors. We were born in 2017, we have ambitious growth plans and we’re growing every day. We need your help to grow our business even further.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure our technical delivery to clients is fit-for-purpose (e.g. scalable, maintainable, secure, affordable)
- Develop our internal processes/frameworks/ways of working to improve our quality and speed of delivery to clients
- Own and administer our internal technologies and systems (e.g. Azure, AWS, Confluence, GitHub, GenAI tools)
- Identify the tech skills we need in our delivery team and manage the hiring of relevant roles, including shaping and delivering technical interviews
- Design technical solutions for DATA3 and our clients, and review tech solutions that others have proposed
- Support and mentor members of the tech team, helping them solve technical challenges and contribute to their personal development
- Work closely with the leadership team at DATA3, and guide our internal tech strategy (e.g. recommendations on tech tools)
- Help ensure that our client projects are delivered in full, in spec + on time
What we need from you:
- Experience with as much of the tech we work with most often: Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS; Data platforms: Databricks, Snowflake, Fabrico; BI & viz: Power BI, Tableau; Gen AI: ChatGPT, Copilot, Geminio; Apps: Power Platform; Source control & CI/CD: GitHub, Azure DevOps; Infrastructure as code: Terraform; Code: SQL, Python
- Significant experience with cloud platforms: you will ensure our internal Azure environment is set up optimally, as well as support the design of cloud infrastructure for our clients
- A deep grounding in data: for example, you should have experience of translating business data and requirements to analytical data models (e.g. Kimball dimensional modelling)
- A broad understanding of data and AI: across data engineering, data visualisation, generative AI and automation
- Experience leading teams: you need to be able to hire the right people for our tech team, as well as support and guide the team
- Great communication skills: able to work effectively with both developers and senior leaders, and explain tech to non-technical people
- Strong awareness of security approaches for data and AI solutions: our clients may have highly sensitive data and/or strict regulatory requirements
- Good working knowledge of software best-practice: you will be responsible for ensuring our development standards are defined and met, especially in the age of AI-assisted development
- The courage to challenge others in an honest and constructive way, to ensure the best outcomes for the business, our clients and individual members of the tech team
- Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, written, listening & verbal communication skills
- Proven experience winning the trust and confidence of a variety of stakeholders at all levels
- Creative mindset and the ability to come up with new ideas and alternative ways of doing things
- The right attitude to work in a small, growing business with a desire to help us improve the way we do things
We’re open to alternative working models...from fractional roles to part-time to side-hustles...if you’re talented, we’re flexible. This is NOT an entry-level role…we need someone who has made loads of mistakes, so that they can share their experiences with others. So, if this is a 1st or 2nd role for you, please don’t apply. This might not be the role for you…if you want to be heavily hands-on with development or if you’d be uncomfortable in a fast-paced environment.
