Summary

The Site Safety Representative (SSR) / Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enforcing company, client, and OSHA safety standards across active job sites. This role supports structured cabling and data center construction environments and requires a strong field presence, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively identify and mitigate risk. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment while supporting operational efficiency and project success. The SSR will work closely with project teams to promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Site Safety Leadership
    • Serve as the primary onsite safety representative for assigned projects, leading and coordinating all safety-related activities, including:
    • Audits
    • Training
    • Compliance enforcement
    • Promote and enforce company and client safety policies, procedures, and expectations.
    • Maintain a visible onsite presence to proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Audits & Compliance
    • Perform routine safety inspections, audits, and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
    • Submit weekly safety audits and reports through required client systems (e.g., Hammertech, Procore).
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and site-specific safety requirements.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Training & Onboarding
    • Develop comprehensive proposal documents, including project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
    • Work closely with the sales team to ensure proposals meet client requirements and expectations.
    • Lead incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis.
    • Document findings and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Track safety performance metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to align safety with project execution.
    • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and client teams.
    • Support a proactive safety culture focused on prevention and accountability.
  • Project & Work Requirements
    • Work performed onsite at active construction and data center environments.
    • Schedule may include extended hours or rotating schedules based on project demands.
    • Must comply with all PPE requirements, including:
    • Hard hat
    • Safety glasses
    • Gloves
    • Steel/composite toe boots
    • Appropriate work attire
  • Knowledge and Skill Requirements
    • OSHA 30 Certification (Construction)
    • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction, industrial, or data center safety
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance practices
    • Experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Relevant construction safety certifications (e.g., NCCER or equivalent)
    • Experience in data center or structured cabling environments
    • OSHA 510 or advanced safety training
    • Train-the-Trainer certifications for MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms) and Telehandlers

    • Standard work hours with flexibility required based on project schedules
  • Physical Requirements (Site Environment)
    • Ability to travel to designated sites
    • Mobility requires frequent walking, standing, climbing or bending
    • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Physical stamina to perform tasks requiring prolonged periods of physical exertion and repetitive motion
    • Visual acuity that requires close/distance/color/peripheral vision and depth perception and ability to focus
    • Ability to perform work outdoors in various conditions including heat, cold, humidity and walking on uneven terrain
    • Exposure to loud noises, moving machinery, and hazardous materials or airborne particles
