We're looking for a Cisco Network Engineer to join a growing technology business based in Worcester. This is a great opportunity for a Network Engineer with solid Cisco networking experience who wants to develop further across customer projects, enterprise networking, firewalls, wireless and network security.

The role would suit someone who has built strong hands-on experience in network support, implementation or project environments and is now looking for broader exposure across design, delivery and complex customer networks.

The Role

  • You'll be involved in the implementation, support and documentation of network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, wireless and security technologies.
  • Working as part of an experienced technical team, you'll support customer projects, configure and troubleshoot network equipment, assist with installations, and help resolve technical issues across varied client environments.
  • You'll also have the opportunity to build your skills across Cisco firewalls, VPNs, routing protocols, wireless and enterprise networking technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and support Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs
  • Assist with the implementation of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and security solutions
  • Support customer projects and onsite installations
  • Troubleshoot network issues across routing, switching, wireless and security
  • Produce clear technical documentation
  • Work with senior engineers on network assessments, upgrades and project delivery
  • Support service desk escalation where required
  • Liaise with customers, internal teams and third-party suppliers
  • Participate in an on-call rota, typically every 6-8 weeks

Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on Cisco networking experience
  • Good routing and switching knowledge
  • Exposure to routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP or EIGRP
  • Firewall and VPN experience, ideally Cisco ASA / FTD
  • Wireless experience, ideally Cisco Catalyst and/or Meraki
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills with technical and non-technical users
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach
  • Full UK driving licence
  • CCNA / CCNP-level knowledge would be useful, but practical hands-on experience is most important.
  • Experience with tools such as PRTG, Wireshark or NetFlow would be beneficial.
  • Any exposure to scripting or automation, such as Python, would also be a plus.
