We are looking to recruit an SC Cleared Technical Architect for a leading technology consultancy. The successful candidate will design and deliver complex, large-scale technology solutions that meet both business and technical needs, ensuring architectural integrity and delivering to time, cost, and quality standards.
This is a hands-on, senior technical role where you will influence solution design, drive adoption of best practice, and mentor teams while working closely with clients in highly regulated environments. This is a hybrid role and you will be required to work 2 days a week at customer site in Andover. Due to the nature of the work valid SC Clearance is required.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the technical design of large and highly complex systems, ensuring quality, performance, and compliance.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the project lifecycle to embed architectural considerations into all phases of delivery.
- Provide technical guidance, governance, and mentorship to development and delivery teams.
- Evaluate technical designs, changes, and proposals, making recommendations and assessing associated risks.
- Develop technology roadmaps and evaluate emerging technologies to inform future solutions.
- Act as a technical authority during client engagements, proof-of-concepts, and pre-sales activities.
- Establish and enforce architectural principles, standards, and best practices, including security and compliance considerations.
- Support internal capability development, including mentoring junior staff and promoting knowledge sharing.
- Extensive experience designing and delivering complex technology solutions, ideally in public sector, government, or other highly regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, NAF, or Zachman.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and DevOps/CI-CD practices.
- Strong understanding of Web Applications, Microservices, APIs, authentication/authorization protocols, and data architecture.
- Knowledge of secure software development practices, GDPR, OWASP, and NCSC cloud security principles.
- Experience delivering AI-based solutions, real-time data integration, or IoT solutions is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, able to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience providing guidance to senior stakeholders and influencing solution design across multiple teams.
- Track record of mentoring and developing internal teams, promoting best practices and capability growth.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to provide innovative solutions in complex environments.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in highly regulated environments (government, defence, or equivalent).
