We are looking to recruit a Senior IT Support Engineer for an established technology services business in its Managed Services Team. This is a varied, customer-facing technical support role, taking ownership of escalated 2nd and 3rd line issues across a broad Microsoft, infrastructure and networking environment. Alongside BAU support, you'll also get involved in infrastructure changes, upgrades, integrations and project-based work, making this a strong opportunity for someone looking for more technical ownership than a traditional service desk position.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing 2nd / 3rd line support across a varied customer estate
- Troubleshooting Windows Server, Microsoft 365, networking and infrastructure issues
- Managing escalated incidents and service requests through to resolution
- Supporting server and network operations
- Managing technical changes, upgrades and improvements
- Monitoring customer infrastructure and device availability
- Working with third-party suppliers and technology vendors
- Maintaining technical documentation and knowledge-base articles
- Recommending infrastructure improvements where appropriate
- Supporting and mentoring more junior support colleagues
Key technical experience:
- Windows 10 / 11
- Microsoft 365 - Exchange, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive
- Windows Server
- Active Directory / Entra ID
- Group Policy
- DNS / DHCP
- LAN / WAN networking
- VMware and/or Hyper-V
- Backup technologies such as Veeam, Datto or Backup Exec
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management experience
- Experience across Azure, PowerShell, Citrix, VPNs, firewalls, RMM tooling, VOIP or wider networking technologies would be advantageous.
We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked within an IT Managed Services / MSP environment, although strong internal 2nd/3rd line support backgrounds will also be considered. You'll need to be comfortable managing multiple customer issues, working to SLAs and communicating confidently with both technical and non-technical users.
