We're looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a growing, engineering-led technology business based in Worcester. This is a hands-on technical role covering project delivery, customer solutions, escalation support and network design. It would suit someone operating at, or close to, Senior Network Engineer level who enjoys working across varied customer environments rather than sitting in a narrow BAU support role.
You'll be involved in the design, implementation and support of enterprise network solutions across LAN, WAN, wireless and security technologies. The role includes customer-facing project work, technical documentation, troubleshooting complex issues and acting as an escalation point for the service team. The role is primarily office-based in Worcester, with some flexibility to work from home.
What you'll be doing:
- Designing and implementing Cisco network solutions across LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and security
- Configuring and supporting routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs
- Working with Cisco ASA / FTD, routing protocols and switching technologies
- Supporting customer projects from design through to delivery
- Producing clear technical documentation
- Acting as an escalation point for complex network issues
- Supporting network assessments, capacity planning and proof-of-concept work
- Working with internal teams, customers and third-party suppliers
- Participating in an on-call rota, typically every 6-8 weeks
What we're looking for:
- Strong Cisco networking experience
- CCNP-level knowledge or equivalent hands-on experience
- Good routing and switching knowledge, including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP and QoS
- Hands-on firewall and VPN experience, ideally Cisco ASA / FTD
- Wireless experience, ideally Cisco Catalyst and/or Meraki
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Confident communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with tools such as PRTG, Wireshark or NetFlow would be useful.
- Any exposure to scripting or automation, such as Python, would also be beneficial but is not essential.
This is a good opportunity for a Network Engineer who wants a broad role covering projects, design, customer delivery and technical escalation within a supportive and technically strong team.
