Permanent Location: Cheltenham - hybrid working, two to three days per week onsite

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 plus benefits, including a travel allowance

We are looking to recruit an SC Cleared DevOps Engineer to join a leading technology consultancy. You will join a team working on an exciting project. Due to the nature of the work valid SC Clearance is required. The programme is delivering new capabilities and enhancements to a bespoke Node.js application. This is a DevOps-focused position rather than a traditional software development role. You will work closely with software engineers, architects and technical leads to improve deployment processes, platform reliability, security and operational performance.

The role:

  • You will be responsible for supporting and improving the delivery and operation of a containerised application environment.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
    • Building, maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines
    • Supporting application deployments across production and non-production environments
    • Managing and troubleshooting OpenShift and Kubernetes environments
    • Automating operational and deployment processes
    • Improving platform reliability, resilience, security and performance
    • Supporting the efficient release of new software capabilities
    • Investigating and resolving application and environment issues
    • Contributing to technical scoping, estimation and delivery planning
    • Promoting DevOps best practices across the wider programme
    • Working closely with development teams to deliver secure, scalable and maintainable solutions

  • Production and non-production environment support
  • Node.js
  • JavaScript
  • Troubleshooting containerised applications
  • Platform reliability and operational resilience

Experience supporting Node.js applications would be particularly valuable, although the role is primarily focused on DevOps, deployment and platform responsibilities.
