We are seeking a highly skilled Expert Industry Process Consultant with extensive engineering experience and a deep understanding of engineering processes. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to identify "what good looks like" in engineering practices, using their expertise to transform and optimise clients' engineering operations. This role focuses on analysing, redesigning, and improving engineering processes to drive efficiency, innovation, and quality. You will collaborate closely with IT solution architects to develop integrated and effective client solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Process Assessment & Consulting: Engage with clients to gain a thorough understanding of their existing engineering processes, challenges, and business objectives. Assess current engineering workflows, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. Define and articulate what best-in-class engineering processes look like, tailoring recommendations to each client's unique needs.
- Best Practice Identification & Implementation: Provide expert insights into industry best practices for engineering processes, including areas such as product development, design review, change management, and quality control. Lead process re-engineering initiatives to optimise efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality. Design and implement scalable, repeatable engineering processes that align with clients’ strategic goals.
- Solution Design & Collaboration with IT: Collaborate closely with IT solution architects to design integrated solutions that align engineering processes with digital technologies. Translate business and engineering requirements into technical specifications, ensuring that IT solutions are fit-for-purpose. Support the development of digital transformation strategies that leverage PLM, ERP, and other enterprise systems to enhance engineering capabilities. Ensure seamless integration of engineering process improvements with IT infrastructure, tools, and platforms.
- Change Management & Process Optimisation: Apply strategies for change management to support the adoption of new engineering processes and best practices. Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and knowledge transfer to ensure stakeholders are aligned and empowered to sustain process improvements. Monitor and evaluate the impact of process changes, ensuring continuous improvement and value realisation.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with cross‑functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, operations, and IT, to drive alignment and execution of process improvements. Act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership and engineering teams, providing thought leadership on engineering excellence. Support project management activities by contributing to project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Strategic Process Advisory: Leverage your engineering expertise to guide clients in strategic decision‑making around process investments and technology adoption. Conduct benchmarking studies to compare clients' engineering processes with industry leaders and competitors. Deliver actionable recommendations that enhance productivity, innovation, and product development capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or a related field). 8+ years of engineering experience, with a strong track record of driving process improvements and operational excellence. Proven experience in assessing and transforming engineering processes in industries such as automotive, aerospace, heavy machinery, or consumer goods.
- Skills & Competencies: Deep understanding of engineering workflows, product development lifecycle, and quality management systems. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, from engineers to executive leadership. Demonstrated ability to lead process transformation projects and drive organisational change.
- Ideal but not essential: Experience collaborating with IT solution architects to develop integrated, technology‑driven solutions. Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile).
