Role Description

The Motor Claims Handler will manage motor accident claims from first notification of loss through to settlement in a full-time, on-site role based in Stevenston. Day-to-day responsibilities include taking detailed incident reports, gathering and verifying information from drivers, third parties, and insurers, and setting up claim files in internal systems. The role involves coordinating repairs, arranging replacement vehicles, and liaising with garages, hire providers, and insurance companies to ensure efficient and compliant claim progression. The Motor Claims Handler will provide clear, supportive communication to customers, keep them updated on claim status, and elevate complex or disputed cases as needed. This position also includes maintaining accurate records, following company procedures, and contributing to continuous improvements in claims handling processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience in motor claims handling, insurance, or accident management, with strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in using case management systems and general computer applications, with accurate data entry and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to assess claim information, apply policy and legal principles, and make sound, timely decisions.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the capacity to handle multiple claims and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to verifying information, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborative working style, able to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues, garages, hire providers, and insurers.
  • Previous experience in motor insurance or fleet management is beneficial; knowledge of UK motor claims processes is an advantage.
  • Education to secondary level or above; further qualifications in insurance, business, or related fields are desirable but not essential.
