About the role
We have an excellent opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant to join our Trading Underwriting team at ARAG. Reporting to the Trading Underwriting Team Manager, you will work alongside the wider team in support of the BTE insurance portfolio.
Responsibilities
Within this role, you will hold responsibility for providing the Trading Underwriters with the support required in the management of our ongoing business partners. You can expect to specialise in the processing and underwriting support for the BTE portfolio, including scheme business and standalone risk across all distributions. In addition, you will provide support to members of the Underwriting department in areas of underwriting operations, procedures, policy endorsements, wording and underwriting queries and renewals. There will be a strong focus on development of general underwriting knowledge as well as key support on some demanding underwriting accounts. You will play an important role in the overall underwriting process and will communicate within the business and across departments where required.
Qualifications
We are looking for applicants who have an evident passion for delivery, ensuring that good customer outcomes is at the centre of your decision making process. Communication and relationship building skills are therefore key to this position in order to build effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. No direct experience in Underwriting is required to be successful in this role as this is a progressive opportunity, with full support and training provided, however it would be advantageous to have some experience in a professional environment, especially within an Insurance or Financial Services background and we are looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate a motivation for a career in Underwriting.

- Ability to work at pace whilst maintaining an accurate, high quality output
- Desire to work in a controlled Underwriting environment
- Basic Excel skills, and the ability to navigate Excel spreadsheets
