We have a rare opportunity to join Arag as a Senior Associate – Technical.

The role will involve working in a team aligned with your area of expertise.

As an experienced litigator you will have extensive knowledge and expertise in all aspects of court litigation from inception to trial in addition to resolving cases by mediation and other forms of alternative dispute’s resolution.

You will be responsible or the technical supervision of a team of fee earners working closely with other Senior and Principal Associates ensuring our customers receive the highest standard if services whilst ensuring the efficient management of caseloads,

You will be able to demonstrate a track record of compliance with SLA’s, MI, management of cases through to outcome in line with customer, regulatory and business expectations.

In addition you will be supporting the team delivering the financial plan and supporting or managing junior employees where required.

Key responsibilities include

  • Motivate and support employees to enable them to meet their objectives and to provide the high standard of service to our customers.
  • Support with the teams recruitment from a technical perspective and also the technical development of the team.
  • Develop open, honest and supportive relationships with team members to identify ongoing development opportunities and ultimately retain talent.
  • Play an active role in the department to create a culture where we are seen as an employer of choice, internally and the external market.
  • Deliver, communicate and support any change activities in your area ensuring they are delivered and teams and colleagues embrace and are confident dealing with the change.
  • Work closely to support the Senior Associate People & Performance Manager to deliver on SLA’s, KPI’s, financial and performance targets as set by the Head of Department to drive efficiency, performance, billing and throughput within the team.
  • Manage a small caseload complex of cases.
  • Ensure the early assessment of the prospects of success of each claim and that the claim is handled throughout in accordance with the requirements of our client’s legal expenses insurance policy.
  • Ensure cases are managed in a cost effective manner by maintaining grip on cost at all times.
  • Drive a culture of effective and efficient case handling, whilst maintaining a focus on the good customer outcome for each individual client
  • Review existing processes and, where appropriate, make recommendations for improvement to deliver excellent customer service whilst creating an environment where technical knowledge and efficiency is embedded through the team.
  • Be responsible for ensuring customers receive the best level of care and advice at all times and where necessary investigating and responding to complaints or escalating where appropriate.

You will need

  • Excellent technical knowledge of the applicable legal claims and case management requirements in relation to these matters
  • High levels of technical ability and procedural matters in chosen field with experience in ADRExperience of providing technical legal supervision to fee-earners of all levels Experience of managing or supporting junior employees to ensure delivery of objectives and the effective management of underperformance (Where applicable)Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail
  • A clear and demonstrable understanding of the CPR and costs insofar as they relate to the area of work in which you have technical responsibility
  • A clear and demonstrable understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct
  • Experience of handling a caseload of complex matters relating to the area in which you specialise in line with customer and regulatory requirements, if required
  • An ability to prioritise and work under pressure managing numerous commitments simultaneously
  • Demonstrable ability to make sound commercial decisions whilst delivering excellent client care
  • A clear and demonstrable understanding of the applicable protocols on pre-action conduct across the area over which you have technical responsibility
  • You should have extensive experience communicating with a variety of external parties including clients, legal professionals, courts etc.
  • You should have an excellent standard of communication (written, verbal and presentations) and be comfortable dealing with customers, stakeholders and senior management using all forms of available communication
  • You should be comfortable and confident presenting to your team, your peers and those in senior management positions as required
