We have a rare new opening in Arag for a Tax Manager, working on a hybrid basis in our Bristol office.

As Tax Manager, your core responsibilities will be to ensure that ARAG UK Group meets all its direct and indirect tax reporting requirements and maintains robust tax compliance in line with the Group Tax Strategy.
You will also optimise tax through effective tax planning for day-to-day operations, projects and initiatives.
This role represents a great opportunity to use technical and collaborative communication skills within a friendly and supportive environment, promoting responsible tax compliance by forging strong relationships with business areas throughout ARAG UK Group, the wider ARAG SE Group and HMRC.
Some of the key responsibilities include
- Ensure that the external tax reporting and associated reconciliations are undertaken accurately, on a timely basis and in a compliant manner (including, but not limited to VAT, IPT, Corporation Tax and BIK returns).
- Ensure that the quarterly Corporation Tax financial reporting calculations, reconciliations and analyses are performed in a timely manner for internal Group reporting purposes.
- Draft Corporation Tax annual statutory reporting disclosures for all companies in the ARAG UK Group for management review and provide related current and deferred tax support during the annual statutory audit.
- Provide technical tax support for the business when required.
- Identify, record and report Tax Risk issues as and when they arise. Identify mitigations and develop risk awareness throughout the business to reduce Compliance Risk.
- Monitor and review strategies, policies and processes relating to the role with a view to managing implementation of improvements to increase efficiency where possible.
- Manage HMRC relationship and any associated voluntary submissions or enquiries.
- Maintaining an appropriate tax transfer pricing policy.
- ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified (or equivalent)
- Confident use of finance systems and tax reporting tools, with the ability to improve data quality, streamline processes and strengthen tax reporting controls
- Proven experience in commercial tax
- Strong technical knowledge and commercial awareness
- IPT experience preferred but not essential.
- Open and transparent communication style with the ability to explain, listen, influence and challenge appropriately.
- Desire and ability to question and challenge the status quo and build compelling cases for change where appropriate.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with senior stakeholders across legal and business functions.
