The consultant will support projects at various phases by conducting studies.
Responsibilities
- Create and validate EMT and RMS models for relevant assets (e.g., WTG, PPC, STATCOM, as applicable).
- Plan and execute design and Grid Code compliance studies, including small disturbances and fault scenarios.
- Draft clear, audit‑ready technical documentation for internal review and external compliance; contribute to grid‑connection workstreams.
- Interface with OEMs on model provisioning, validation, and parameterization.
- Summarize findings and recommend mitigations, ensuring quality in line with Client standards across multiple projects.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (BEng/MSc/PhD) or equivalent.
- At least 5 years hands‑on experience with PSCAD for EMT studies, including applicable add‑ons and analysis modules, plus required experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory covering steady‑state and RMS analyses.
- Experience working with vendor models and parameterization for compliance.
- Scripting/automation skills for workflows and post‑processing.
- Experience coordinating with OEMs for model delivery, validation, and updates; strong data confidentiality practices.
- Strong communication skills; able to produce clear reports and stakeholder materials.
- Ability to work independently while following client established methodologies, documentation standards, and QA processes.
Nice to Have
- Experience with National Grid ESO EMT guidelines and evidence requirements.
- Experience with grid‑forming controls or advanced STATCOM functionalities.
