The Opportunity

Are you an experienced HR Generalist who enjoys being hands‑on, solving problems and making a real difference to a business?

We’re looking for a proactive, commercially minded HR professional to provide day‑to‑day HR support to a growing business with a small UK‑based team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can confidently manage a broad range of HR responsibilities, work independently and provide practical support across the employee lifecycle.

Starting at approximately 10‑20 hours per week, this is an urgent contract opportunity with the potential to develop into a full‑time position as requirements evolve.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Employee support: Acting as the first point of contact for employee HR queries, providing clear, practical guidance and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Employee relations: Managing sensitive HR matters professionally, including employee concerns, performance issues and other confidential cases.
  • Payroll: Coordinating and processing payroll accurately, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time.
  • Pensions and benefits: Managing pension administration, employee benefits and related queries.
  • HR administration: Maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring HR documentation and processes are up to date.
  • Compliance: Supporting adherence to UK employment legislation, HR policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • HR systems: Using HR technology to manage employee data and streamline processes. Experience with Rippling would be a significant advantage.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in an HR Generalist, HR Advisor, HR Manager or similar hands‑on HR role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations.
  • Practical experience managing sensitive and confidential HR cases.
  • Experience processing payroll and administering pensions and employee benefits.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the confidence to advise employees and managers.
  • The ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands and take ownership of day‑to‑day HR activities.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach and a high level of discretion.

Desirable: Experience using Rippling or another modern HRIS and payroll platform, particularly within a small business or fast‑paced environment.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Flexible, part‑time hours of approximately 10‑20 per week to start.
  • The opportunity to take ownership of a broad HR remit.
  • A varied, hands‑on assignment where your expertise will have an immediate impact.
  • Potential for the engagement to grow into a full‑time opportunity.
