The Senior Offshore HSE advisor promotes and provides professional expert knowledge and guidance to managers, supervisors, employees and contractors on safe work practices, safety standards, and legal regulations, and supports identification and elimination of potential hazards and ensures control measures are in place.

The advisor can apply advanced HSE skills to the position. Has experience within subject area and knows fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures related to HSE and knows how to routinely apply knowledge of theories, methods, techniques, and processes to scope of work.
Typical Tasks (not exhaustive)
- Drive and promote a good proactive HSE culture through leading by example, cultural engagement, using data, raising awareness, knowledge sharing, and lessons learned (registration and implementation).
- Demonstrate and promote data driven risk management through a proactive reporting culture and high-quality data management.
- Support ongoing development, implementation, and use of systems, procedures, instructions, and associated HSE documentation.
- Planning, facilitation/participation of Safety meetings, Toolbox Talks, briefings, Safety Walks, inspections, HAZID/HAZOP workshops and employer cultural programmes and campaigns.
- Review of HSE documentation, Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS).
- Monitoring and assessment of internal/external HSE compliance and performance using incident reporting tool (Synergi) for reporting, trend analysis etc.
- Coordinate and report safety inspections, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and report derived observations, risks, and lessons learnt.
- Effective liaison with contractors at management and site levels to establish and improve safety, health and environmental culture.
- Participate and contribute to all relevant site HSE meetings.
- Participate in audits (internal and external).
- Follow up on findings from HSE related audits, inspections, incident investigation and support implementation of NCR’s.
- Reporting LTIs to HSE organization in accordance with the process.
- Ad hoc advise on questions regarding HSE in daily work (e.g. management, technicians, internal and external).
- Ensure the validity of own safety/training certificates as required.
- Be proactive in maintaining own competence levels required for the role.

- Review of Risk Assessed Method Statements (RAMS).
- Operational HSE Assessment.
- Perform HSE induction of Clients Representatives.
- Perform HSE presentations at kick off meetings.
- HSE walk reports.
- Entry of incidents and proactive measures in Synergi.
- Other deliverables and as per Project (Q)HSE Risk management processes and AP QHSE Management framework.
Decision Authority
The QHSE function is not the exclusive owner of HSE and therefore does not hold the authority to determine HSE performance on its own. However, a HSE Advisor is a subject matter expert and can therefore contribute to decision-making based on personal level of understanding of the business and the interdependencies with other departments.

Requirements and Qualifications
- English language skills.
- Relevant academic or technical background.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience with HSE, ideally from onshore renewables/offshore windfarm construction.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong communication and presentation skills.
- IT literate (Microsoft office package, knowledge of Synergi is an advantage).
- Knowledge of route cause analysis and incident investigation.
- Demonstratable experience in dealing with 3rd party contractors in relation to HSE.
- Completed NEBOSH; (minimum level 3), or similar recognized HSE qualification.
- In date site safety passport (CCNSG or CSCS).
- Current clean UK driver’s license.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
- QHSE BSC, Diploma or equivalent level 6 qualification.
- NEBOSH or IEMA Environmental Management qualifications.
- Qualified/certified Auditor.
- Experienced in delivery of training courses/material.
- GWO Qualifications, medical and fitness for work certifications for offshore access.
Working Conditions / Locations
The role will be offshore based, Living aboard a Jack-Up or Installation Vessel. Offshore trips will mobilise at Humberside airport. Flexibility is required for occasional off project site visits for company and supplier internal/external meetings, which may also be overseas. The normal shift pattern for offshore works is 2 weeks on-shift / 2 weeks off-shift, 10 – 12-hour days. There may be some flexibility for occasional working from home if authorised by project management.
