PIC Design EngineerLocation: UK | Full-timeWe're looking for a PIC Design Engineer to join an advanced photonics R&D team developing next-generation III-V and hybrid integrated photonic devices.
You'll work across PIC design, mask layout, device development and fabrication, collaborating closely with design, fabrication and testing teams to take concepts from research through to production.
What you'll doDesign PICs and III-V optoelectronic devicesCreate mask layouts using KLayout, Nazca or equivalentDevelop and maintain PDKs and design rulesUse Python to automate design and layout workflowsWork with fabrication and testing teams to improve device designsExplore new applications and technologies in integrated photonicsWhat we're looking forPhD in semiconductor devices, photonics or a related fieldStrong understanding of waveguides, modulators, detectors and passive devicesHands-on mask layout/design experienceStrong Python skillsExperience with III-V photonics is highly desirableIdeally 3+ years' experience in photonics R&D, industry or academiaPDK development, optical communications or semiconductor fabrication experience is a plusGreat opportunity for someone who wants to work at the intersection of PIC design, semiconductor technology and next-generation optical communications.
