Digital Electronics Engineer – Space Avionics (C&DH systems)
Location: Oxfordshire, UK (Hybrid)
Work authorization: UK right to work required

We’re recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing space company based in Harwell that’s tackling a big challenge: cleaning up space. They’re working on missions to remove orbital debris and extend the life of satellites-and they’re looking for a Digital Electronics Engineer to join their avionics team.

This is a hands-on role focused on Command & Data Handling (C&DH) systems. You’ll get involved in everything from early design through to testing and helping get real hardware ready for space. The team is small, so there’s a real chance to shape how things are done.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Helping design and test digital electronics for satellite C&DH systems.

  • Writing and reviewing requirements, test plans, and system architectures.

  • Working with hardware and supporting integration and environmental testing.

  • Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to keep projects moving.

  • Supporting mission operations from the UK ground segment.

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree in electrical engineering (or something similar).

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with satellite C&DH systems.

  • Comfortable with standards like CCSDS, SpaceWire, RS422, I2C, and CAN.

  • Good understanding of how satellite systems work together.

  • Experience writing test plans and running verification on avionics.

Nice to have (but not essential):

  • FPGA development (VHDL or Verilog).

  • Python scripting for test automation.

  • Experience working in a cleanroom or handling flight hardware.

  • Background in GNSS, time sync, or radiation tolerance in LEO.

Why this role?

  • Flexible hybrid working (you’ll be on site regularly, but not every day).

  • Private healthcare, 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), and relocation support if needed.

  • You’ll be joining a genuinely mission-driven team working on something that matters.
