This role is part of World Travel Protection, our global medical and security assistance business supporting many of Zurich Cover‑More’s travel insurance brands. We support corporate and leisure travellers, helping them avoid risks before they escalate and connecting them with the right experts when emergencies arise. With deep expertise in global travel risk management, we’re trusted by travellers, corporate risk managers and organisations worldwide to prepare for potential threats and respond when it matters most. Operating 24/7 from our global assistance centres, we’re always ready to answer the call wherever in the world it comes from.

This is a part‑time position, working 7–15 hours per week (across 2 days) on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role will require the successful candidate to be based in our Uxbridge office one day per week. This is a part‑time, weekend‑focused Medical Consultant role, and we’re open to considering a range of working patterns to suit different lifestyles. Options include:

  • Alternate weekends (e.g., one weekend on / one weekend off, or two weekends on / two weekends off within a 4‑week cycle)
  • Saturdays only
  • Sunday only
  • Working every weekend

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You’ll be responsible for the management of all requests for medical assistance from customers, medical providers and international organisations.
  • You’ll provide oversight and ongoing education, supervision and support to all members of the WTP medical team.
  • You’ll engage in ongoing quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with the current WTP organisational clinical governance framework.
  • You’ll be the escalation point regarding the appropriateness and necessity of medical care and/or transport, identifying customers at risk and escalating care as necessary.
  • You’ll engage as the medical expert with insurers and clients.
  • You’ll liaise directly with customers, treating medical doctors in the location, air ambulance providers and the customer’s local medical doctor(s) for the purpose of providing medical advice as requested by the Regional Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Services Operations Manager or Registered Nurse / Paramedic on an as‑needed basis.

What Skills And Experience You’ll Bring On This Journey

  • You’ll currently be registered with the GMC Medical Register.
  • You’ll have extensive post‑graduate experience, ideally with a strong background in Critical Care medicine (Emergency Medicine, Anesthetics or Intensive Care).
  • You’ll demonstrate or have a thorough understanding of the current clinical skills and knowledge required for the provision of medical assistance, ideally in an international setting.
  • You’ll have knowledge of safety and quality assurance initiatives and standards in the area of critical care and retrieval medicine, including the ability to conduct audits and data analysis of key outcome measures.
  • You’ll have excellent understanding and clinical proficiency in dealing with undifferentiated emergency presentations.
  • You’ll possess networking skills and the ability to collaborate, cooperate and network effectively within a demanding culturally diverse, matrix organisation. This includes building strong partnerships with medical and security professionals, and operations experts.
