A fast-growing, entrepreneurial private equity firm is seeking an M&A Director to help build a market-leading platform in the Defence & Aerospace sector. This is a rare opportunity to join an early stage, high-velocity buy-and-build platform in the UK lower mid-market.
As M&A Director, you’ll lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of acquisitions in the Defence & Aerospace space - particularly Tier 2 and Tier 3 contract manufacturers. You’ll work closely with the Partners and senior leadership to shape the investment thesis and drive transactions from origination through to completion.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead M&A projects autonomously, managing multiple deals simultaneously
- Drive end-to-end transaction execution including structuring, negotiation, and documentation
- Oversee financial and commercial due diligence, coordinating with external advisors
- Prepare investment committee materials and present recommendations
- Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to identify acquisition targets
- Build relationships with business owners, advisors, and stakeholders
- ACA qualified or equivalent, with experience in Big 4 M&A/Transaction Services or Investment Banking
- May also come from Corporate Development, boutique advisory, or similar backgrounds
- Experience in Defence & Aerospace or adjacent sectors is strongly preferred
- Proven track record in lower/mid-market transactions
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage SME/OMB owners credibly
- Highly organised, self-starting, and able to manage competing priorities
