Corporate Finance - Mergers and Acquisitions

Investment Banking Associate - Consumer M&A Advisory (Elite US Independent Advisory Firm). Based in London.

Our client is a global US independent advisory firm - widely regarded as one of the top platforms globally - and is looking to hire an Associate into its Consumer M&A team in London.

The Opportunity

The Consumer group in London was established as a focused, senior-led team covering large cap European corporates across food and beverage, beauty and personal care, and consumer healthcare. The team has built deep, long-standing relationships with some of the most prominent consumer businesses in Europe, advising on landmark transactions across the sector.

The firm is currently investing heavily in its European platform, having expanded its presence across several major markets over the past 12–18 months through strategic hires and new office openings. This growth has significantly widened the team's opportunity set, and the Consumer group is now scaling to match — with a recent senior hire from a leading European advisory firm adding further depth and firepower at the top of the team.

As an Associate, you will be working directly alongside senior bankers on live deal execution and client engagement, with exposure to a mix of large cap corporate mandates and an increasing volume of sponsor-backed and mid-cap work. The team is lean and high-performing, meaning the responsibility and client exposure on offer is exceptional for this level.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of investment banking experience at a bulge bracket, elite boutique, or strong independent advisory firm
  • Demonstrable M&A transaction experience, ideally with some exposure to the consumer sector - though strong generalists with a genuine interest in the space will also be considered
  • Excellent financial modelling, valuation, and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to contribute meaningfully to client-facing materials and interactions
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver high-quality output under pressure
  • A collaborative, low-ego approach - the team operates with a flat structure and values people who are both technically sharp and easy to work with

Why This Role

This is a rare opportunity to join a top-tier platform at a genuine inflection point. The combination of an elite brand, a rapidly expanding European footprint, and a Consumer team that is actively scaling makes this one of the most compelling Associate-level opportunities in the London market right now.
