Dartmouth Partners has been exclusively retained by a leading, private equity-backed infrastructure services group (£1bn+ revenue) who has just taken on new ownership and now looking to appoint a Strategy & Corporate Development Manager. Our client is a long-established engineering contractor serving the energy and utilities sectors, and is now embarking on an ambitious international expansion programme, with an initial focus on the US energy and utilities contracting market.
Location: hybrid, with regular international travel (incl. USA)
Experience: 3–5 years, ideally from a top-tier strategy consultancy
The Opportunity
This is a rare chance for an outstanding strategy consultant to move from advising clients to owning the strategy and then sourcing and acquiring businesses directly.
Reporting straight to C‑Suite senior leadership, you will play a central role in defining the Group's international strategy, building a five-year strategic roadmap and shortlisting acquisition and new‑market opportunities. You will develop a deep understanding of the UK and US contracting landscape, identify attractive subsectors and companies, and help determine where the Group should invest.
The role sits at the intersection of strategy, market intelligence, corporate development and M&A, and will suit someone who enjoys getting underneath a market, forming a differentiated point of view and turning analysis into investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market & Industry Analysis
- Acquisition Target Identification
- Corporate Development
Candidate Profile:
- 5 + years at a leading strategy consultancy (e.g. McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Strategy&, Oliver Wyman, OC&C, L.E.K., Roland Berger, EY-Parthenon or similar)
- Ability to move at pace and capable structured problem-solving, often under ambiguity.
- Market analysis and quantitative research skills.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint capability.
- Comfort working with large, imperfect datasets and turning them into clear insight.
- Strong attention to detail and genuine intellectual curiosity.
- Able to work autonomously and take ownership of ambiguous problems.
- Confident presenting conclusions and recommendations to senior executives.
