Dartmouth Partners are working with a boutique PE firm to find a Finance Manager. The Finance Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the management company and investment funds. This is a hands-on role covering accounting, fund operations, and commercial finance, with exposure to fund structuring, LP reporting, and portfolio activity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving, small-firm environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fund Finance & Operations
    • Oversee fund accounting across multiple vehicles (capital calls, distributions, NAV calculations)
    • Coordinate with external fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors
    • Prepare and review quarterly and annual fund financial statements
    • Manage capital call and distribution processes, including investor notices and cash movements
  • Corporate Finance
    • Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
    • Monitor cash flow, expenses, and management fee income
    • Ensure appropriate internal controls and financial processes are in place
    • Liaise with external accountants and tax advisors on corporate filings
    • Support financial aspects of deals, exits, and follow-on investments
    • Maintain investment records and reporting systems
    • Assist with portfolio company data collection for reporting purposes
  • Process Improvement & Ad hoc Projects
    • Improve and document finance processes and controls as the firm scales
    • Support systems selection and implementation (accounting, reporting, CRM tools)
    • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and strategic initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 5–8 years of experience in fund finance, accounting, or financial management
  • Prior experience in private equity, VC, or asset management
  • Strong understanding of fund structures, capital calls, distributions, and LP reporting
  • Solid accounting knowledge (US GAAP / IFRS as applicable)
  • Experience working with external administrators, auditors, and tax providers
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a small team environment
