Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust has partnered with the Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance to deliver a new screening service to the people of North Kent.

The Lung Screening Programme is a national initiative aimed at increasing lung cancer diagnosis rates and improving patient outcomes in the UK. The Programme Director will be responsible for overseeing, planning, and implementing this new service at Dartford Gravesham Trust.

This is a 2-year fixed-term position.

Main duties of the job

The Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance is one of the phase 3 pilot sites for the national Lung Cancer Screening Programme (LCSP). This programme offers lung health checks and low-dose CT scans for eligible patients, aiming to diagnose lung cancer early and improve treatment outcomes. The LCSP is targeted at current and former smokers aged 55 to 74 in the Dartford, Gravesham, and Swanley areas.

The programme is multidisciplinary, led by the Women\’s, Children, Radiology, and Outpatient Services (WCRO) division. Radiology collaborates closely with respiratory, cancer, and primary care services. Oversight is provided by the LCSP Programme Delivery Group, with the COO serving as the Executive Sponsor.

As Programme Manager, you will work within a newly formed LCSP team and be responsible for managing a team of administrators. Your focus will be on planning and developing all aspects of the programme, establishing governance and infrastructure, and engaging stakeholders. Community engagement is also a key part of this role.
