Healthcare Assistant Band 2-3 progressive role

Are you new to care or do you have caring experience and are looking to join the NHS?

As we are looking to recruit people into a development post. You will start as a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant and following successful completion of competencies will progress to a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant.

If you are an enthusiastic and motivated individual and want to join our clinical patient facing teams on the wards and in Outpatients here at Darent Valley Hospital we want to hear from you.

We have opportunities in both inpatient areas and outpatients. Hours of work in inpatient areas are long days and weekend 7 days a week and shift times are: 07.00 – 19.30 and 19.00-07.30, shifts in outpatients run between 08.00 – 18.00 depending on clinical need.

We have a dedicated HCA education team who will support you through an induction programme and completion of your care certificate. Once obtained which is anticipated to be within 6 months you will be uplifted to a band 3.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work independently as a member of the nursing team following agreed plans of care pathways.

They will provide support for the Registered Nursing staff in maintaining a stable and safe clinical environment.

Person Specification

Education and Training

  • Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy) GCSE grade A-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Care Certificate
  • Evidence of CPD

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • IT literate
  • Basic understanding of Anatomy & Physiology
  • Able to act on own initiative (in relation to delivering patient/client care)

Experience

  • Able to act on own initiative (in relation to delivering patient/client care)
  • Experience of working in a caring environment, either in health, social or voluntary services
  • Experience of staff management
